Dad to Sarah and Micah

A little girl is born in China. She's too precious to discard, too expensive to keep. So, she's placed in a basket and dropped off near the police station where she'll be found. She spends her first months in an orphanage, not knowing what a mommy or daddy is. Across the world, a mommy and a daddy get a picture of the girl--an answer to their prayers. Though the journey that has brought them to this picture has been long, it is but the first step in an even longer journey…parenthood.

Micah is becoming a sweet girl.  Well, she's on her way to becoming a sweet girl, at least.  She isn't acting out as much as before, even though she still loses control sometimes.  That's usually when she's tired or hungry.  But, she's making progress.  And, that's encouraging.  She loves doling out little kisses, and she finally likes to sit and just hug.  That's something she hated even just a few months ago.  She's blossoming and it makes me think maybe we're doing something right, though it's probably all her.

Sarah is getting ready for her 2nd kung fu tournament.  She's a yellow belt, now.  So, she's going to have some stiffer competition.  She decided not to do the "Walk with Danger" probably because she didn't get a ribbon last semester.  She placed 4th, and that was without much practice at all.  This time, she's going to do the Escape Drill (she got 1st place last time), and she'll do 4 new events:  Fastest Fist, Fastest Foot, Strongest Punch, Strongest Kick.  She hasn't done much practicing, and the event is in 5 days.  So, it's time to cram!  She's doing great in school.  Her teachers love her and so do her classmates.  She's almost 9 and growing up so fast.

Julie is enjoying retirement and can't believe how little time she has left over in a day after she runs her errands and volunteers and does work at home.  She's substituting at 2 private schools, which is easy work for her, and I think it's rewarding for her, too.
